We Help With

Conditions we treat

Both myotherapy and massage therapy can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Headache and migraine pain
  • Knee, shoulder, hip, and foot injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Surgery recovery and rehabilitation
  • Restricted movement due to disability

What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy is a type of physical therapy that focuses on the soft tissue structures within the body, such as muscles, tendons, fascia and ligaments.

It focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue pain and dysfunction. It is based on Western medical principles including anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.

Myotherapy is an approach to health care that focuses on the soft tissue system. The aim is to decrease or eliminate pain, restore and maintain proper soft tissue function, prevent injuries, and boost recovery. Myotherapy procedures can benefit the nervous, skeletal, circulatory, and lymphatic systems.

Myotherapy is an excellent way to reduce pain and improve function, and it can be used to prevent injuries and boost recovery.

Myotherapy treatments may include massage, stretching, dry needling, cupping and exercises.

Muscles

Muscles are composed of a muscle belly, as well as tendons. The muscle belly is a flexible tissue that allows the body to move when nerve signals send the muscle fibers to contract or elongate. Tendons attach muscles to bones and help transmit the force of muscle contraction to the bone.

Myotherapy is a great way to help injured muscles recover. It can help increase blood flow to the area, which can help reduce inflammation and promote healing. Myotherapy can also help relax the muscles and improve range of motion.

Tendons

Tendons are a type of connective tissue that attaches muscles to bones. Tendons help muscles to move the bones around which they are attached. They also help to stabilise joints and transmit force from the muscles to the bones.

Tendons can become injured from overuse, repetitive motion or acute trauma. Myotherapy can help to reduce inflammation and promote healing in injured tendons. Massage therapy can also help to relax the muscles around the tendon, which can help to reduce pain and improve range of motion.

Fascia

Fascia is a connective tissue that covers and supports the muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Fascia is a connective tissue that covers and supports the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It helps to stabilise joints and transmit force. Fascia can also become tight or restrictive, which can lead to pain and dysfunction.

Myotherapy and massage therapy can help to loosen up the fascia and restore movement and range of motion.

Ligaments

Ligaments are a type of connective tissue that attach bones to other bones. They help to stabilise joints and protect them from injury. Ligaments can become injured from overuse, repetitive motion or acute trauma. Myotherapy and massage therapy can help to loosen up the ligaments and restore movement and range of motion.

Tiziana's Wellness Philosophy

Several key attributes distinguish my approach
to myotherapy, therapeutic massage and personal fitness.

My Athletic Lifestyle

Firstly, I am a keen athlete myself. Many massage therapists—surprisingly—don’t embrace a fitness lifestyle.

I maintain a high level of fitness through the regular aerobics classes I instruct, and through personal fitness: running, bike riding and gym work.

I’ve taken part in half marathons, the City to Surf run, trained for an iron man, and competed in numerous cycling  competitions, including the Alpine Classic. I also love to surf!

I have an holistic and educational approach to all facets of my massage and fitness work. I seek to improve my clients understanding of their muscles and any factors influencing their condition, thereby helping to prevent further injury and improve overall health and well-being.

This process starts with problem analysis, and continues through to proposed exercises and consideration of factors that may exacerbate a condition or injury. Educating my clients is a very satisfying part of my work.

My clients encompass a diverse range of individuals and needs.

As a Myotherapist, I work with everyday people dealing with issues such as:

  • Persistent soft-tissue problems causing pain or inhibiting full enjoyment of life
  • Those rehabilitating from surgery
  • Elite athletes recovering from injury or surgery
  • Clients with disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, who benefit from therapy which helps to stimulate muscle use and relieve the side-effects of their condition.

I work with active people attending my aerobics classes and personal fitness training; as well as amateur and elite athletes working towards a competitive goal.

I have assisted marathon runners, cyclists, and other sports people, and are proud to have worked with well-known local sports people, such as Zak Dempster and Simon Bennett.

Over my years in Bendigo, I have fostered a network of fitness-oriented, like-minded health professionals. These proactive and caring providers include chiropractors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, and naturopaths.

If you’ve already started treatment with a health professional in one of these fields, I am able to augment your treatment with them. Also, I can recommend professionals in these fields, if treatment in one of these areas would assist your particular condition.

I have worked as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer for over sixteen-years, including more than seven years with Aquamoves in Shepparton.

In 2002, I became a qualified massage therapist through the Australian College of Massage Therapy. Prior to establishing Agility: The Power of Movement, I worked with clients at Creating Balance, Mind & Body in Lucan Street, for eight years.

In 2021 I became a qualified Myotherapist, adding futher therapeutic treatments and knowledge to my extensive range of skills.

For many years, I worked in association with a Chiropractic clinic, improving my knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Having done so, I have a genuine appreciation for the benefits of chiropractic treatment.

I am keenly interested in bio mechanics—that is, the physiology of how the body moves and the interrelationship of all the muscles and tendons.

While some healthcare professionals are happy to keep such knowledge to themselves—and keep you coming back for visits—I am passionate about educating my clients so that they heal more quickly, avert further injury, and maintain their physical health and well-being.

I obtain immense satisfaction from helping others achieve their personal goals, whether those goals pertain to better general fitness, recovery from injury or surgery, or competing to the best of their abilities, either in an amateur or elite context.

I’d like to help you with your health concerns and fitness goals. Come and talk to me, and let’s see what we can achieve together.
